On December 8th 2015 I was 13 weeks pregnant with my second child and had my first ultrasound appointment. The doctor came in and started the ultrasound. Eventually he told me that he was having a hard time finding a heartbeat but wanted to do a vaginal ultrasound in case I wasn’t as far along as we thought I was. After awhile he stopped the ultrasound, handed me the pictures he had printed out and told me that my baby didn’t have a heartbeat and was only measuring at 9 weeks. I had a D&C done the next morning.
When my son was born I didn’t get to hold him for 4 days. He was 4 weeks early and was sent to the NICU because he was having a difficulties breathing on his own and was put on oxygen, a feeding tube, and had a IV places in the artery of his belly button. Because of the multiple losses, the difficulty getting pregnant, and the breathing problems my son had I can be a very paranoid mother. I felt like Melissa completely understood that about me. During the photo shoot I started to get worried that my sons breathing sounding different. Melissa noticed I was uneasy about something and gave my son back to me. Then started explaining all the classes she goes to for the baby’s safety and ways she’s been taught to hold them to make sure their in a safe position. She even offered to take a look at my car seat to make sure everything was correct and safe. I would highly recommend Melissa to everyone, especially if you’ve suffered losses or infertility and would be nervous during something like this. Melissa not only made sure my child was happy during the photo shoot but that I was too.
